food and travel can bring people closer

and challenge bias when done thoughtfully.

We believe the choices you make while traveling reflect your values. That’s why giving back and regenerative travel are our baseline.

We believe there’s a respectful way to travel. One where you don’t bend a city to your needs, but step into its rhythm. Where you observe, listen, and take part—leaving the place slightly better than you found it.

Every booking supports independent, local businesses and contributes to community-led projects in San Sebastian and Bilbao.

When you choose a TOPA tour, you support local livelihoods, strengthen community projects, and help preserve the character of the neighborhoods that welcome you. We collaborate with community-focused initiatives that protect culture, people, and place—so your experience gives back in ways that last.

San Sebastian has two soup kitchens run by Cáritas, a global charity with a strong local presence. These kitchens welcome and support people facing homelessness and social exclusion, using food as a first point of care and connection.
At Aterpe, meals are lovingly cooked and served by volunteers. At Hotzaldi, meals are prepared in collaboration with a local catering company, ensuring consistency and dignity in daily care. Beyond meeting basic needs, Cáritas works to empower people and accompany them toward greater autonomy, social participation, and the defense of their human rights.

Koop SF 34 – (Bilbao)

A social incubator empowering migrant-led businesses and inclusive narratives in Bilbao.

Founded in Bilbao’s San Francisco neighborhood, KOOP SF34 is an intercultural and social business incubator that supports micro-enterprises and grassroots initiatives led by migrant and intercultural communities. Through entrepreneurship, education, and community engagement, the project provides infrastructure, resources, and opportunities that foster sustainable local development while challenging stereotypes, countering hate discourse, and promoting a more inclusive and intercultural society.

Since 2021, KOOP SF34 has led the Diversitours project, creating new narratives around migration and cultural diversity through guided routes across Bilbao’s vibrant, lived-in neighborhoods — places often overlooked by traditional tourism. Led by local changemakers, these tours share the city’s history and present-day transformation from migrant perspectives, inviting visitors to connect with the communities actively shaping Bilbao today.

Zaporeak means flavours in Basque — and this project brings the Basque Country’s culinary spirit to where it’s most needed.
Founded by a father-and-son team, Zaporeak uses food as a tool for solidarity, cooking and distributing wholesome meals to refugees living in camps and precarious situations in Greece.
Since 2016, volunteers have prepared and served over 1,000,000 meals, currently cooking around 1,300 meals daily from their kitchen in Athens. They also deliver meals to families in Lesvos, working closely with Team Humanity, a Danish humanitarian organization.
